The Way They See Me
They see me as too honest, I just say I’m outgoing.
They see me as a loud mouth, but I think I’m cocky.
They see me as a child, but I feel mentally mature.
They see me as quick-tempered, but I just say what’s on my heart.
Most don’t think before their actions, wonder before words.
But regardless of how they see me,
In my eyes they are blind and they can’t see me.
My Face Is…
My head is huge,
My eyes are too small,
My mouth is really wide,
My nose is too tall.
I have a big chin,
My ears are so big,
My tongue is so long,
But it fits me just right.
***
My skin tone is one,
My hair is also.
My voice is too,
Let’s not forget grammar,
Yeah, clothes.
My likings.
My disadvantages.
My eyes.
What is it?
What are they?
They are the things I hate the most…
LABELS!
Untitled
It feels like someone taking your breath in a suffocating kind of way.
It feel like a dock with no pier, with no escape.
You feel like a balloon, always so bloated.
It felt like it was my fault, and maybe I was to blame.
I don’t have sunshine but I know the rain won’t
Last forever.
Now I give my testimony.
Day until dawn I tended to cry, sometimes feeling as if I might die.
I cried for 37 days hoping that the pain would go away.
I counseled myself through those dark days.
I look through my door and see no rain.
The time from glancing to the window of yesterday to now and can say,
“It happened. I cried. I survived and am still living.”
On Photography
I like photography because it doesn’t have to be based on one certain thing. You don’t have to be in the mood to always take happy or sad pictures…you can take pictures of whatever you feel and describe it in your own words. Nobody will judge you.
I love getting in front of the camera, but when I’m taking pictures, I love capturing emotions and nature. When I take pictures of people, I don’t tell them that I’m doing it…I let it be in the middle of a laugh, or maybe in a depressing moment.
In this project, I like the fact that we got to go out of ourselves and do what we want rather than being forced to photograph things we weren’t interested in. The writing gave me a chance to get personal. The project makes me look at photography in a different way. If I see someone else’s work now, I wonder what they were thinking when they took the picture.
About the Artist
Sierra Citrine describes herself as ‘kind of a weird person, but in a good way. People think I’m the type of person to bust out laughing for no reason, but I’m usually the one to break an awkward silence.’ She sings, acts, and loves talking. If talking could be a major in college, she would ace that class. Her dream is to sing, and if that doesn’t work out, she’ll become a lawyer.
