If you are looking for an internship, there are several opportunities open to you. They can involve arts, work with at-risk youth or the various facets of managing a non-profit organization. The duties of the internships vary depending on your specific interests.

Options are as follows:

Finance

  • Develop a strategic financial plan
  • Develop organizational budgets
  • Design and install an effective and efficient accounting procedure
  • Use Quickbooks
  • Write budget reports
  • Handle monthly payroll

Information Systems

  • Create a database to track grant funds
  • Create multiple connected mailing databases
  • Maintain WEB page
  • Train staff

Marketing

  • Design a brochure for corporate funding
  • Create a corporate sponsorship campaign
  • Design ads and flyers for program
  • Develop a marketing campaign for organization

Public Relations

  • Serve as spokesperson for organization
  • Meet with New Hanover county art teachers and guidance counselors
  • Raise awareness of program

Grant Writing

  • Research and write as many grants as possible for Arts Education
  • Study various aspects of teaching an underserved population
  • Research and develop arts curriculums targeted at a particular art form and a certain age group

The Program Director will evaluate your progress at mid-semester, and at the end of the term. You will also write monthly reports discussing the works that you completed and those in progress. Your schedule can be flexible, and you may serve a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 15 hours each week.

Currently, these are unpaid internships.
